2024 Seoul International Book Fair unveils dazzling Saudi pavilion!

Saudi Arabia Takes Center Stage at Seoul International Book Fair

Saudi Arabia stole the spotlight at the 66th edition of the Seoul International Book Fair, where it was honored as the guest of honor. The Kingdom’s pavilion, located at the Convention and Exhibition Complex in Seoul, is a vibrant celebration of Saudi culture, showcasing various aspects of its rich heritage.

The Ministry of Culture’s Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission spearheaded the immersive experience at the pavilion, in partnership with several Saudi authorities including the Heritage Authority, the Fashion Authority, and the Film Commission. The pavilion also features contributions from prestigious institutions such as the King Abdulaziz House and the King Fahd National Library.

Visitors to the pavilion can expect a diverse cultural program curated by LPT, featuring dialogue sessions, seminars, and performances by renowned writers and authors. The program covers topics ranging from Saudi history and antiquities to the similarities between Korean and Arabic languages and cultures.

Highlights of the Saudi pavilion include the launch of the “Book of Poems in Korean Language” and a project by the King Salman International Academy for Arabic Language to promote Arabic language in Korea. Traditional Saudi arts like the Ardha dance will be showcased, along with a display of books and artifacts from Saudi Arabia.

A Saudi dinner night will also be organized, offering Korean visitors a taste of national dishes from different regions of Saudi Arabia. Through its participation in the fair, Saudi Arabia aims to strengthen ties with Korea, foster cultural exchange, and promote collaboration in literature, culture, and the arts.

The Seoul International Book Fair, established in 1954, has grown into one of Asia’s most prestigious book fairs. This year’s edition features participation from 90 publishing institutions and companies from 19 countries, alongside 350 Korean publishing houses.
