Boosting Vision 2030: Saudi Non-Profit Sector Surges 1.4% – What’s Next?

Saudi Arabia Sees Significant Growth in Non-Profit Sector

The non-profit sector in Saudi Arabia experienced a 1.4 percent rise in March, with 72 new organizations being established during the month. Official figures from the National Center for Non-Profit Sector Development revealed that the total number of registered bodies in this sector now stands at 4,721, marking a 182 percent increase from 2018.

Key Part of Vision 2030 Initiative

March saw the creation of 57 civil associations, seven civil society organizations, and eight family funds across the Kingdom. This growth is a crucial part of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 economic diversification initiative. Minister of Human Resources and Social Development Ahmed Al-Rajhi praised the organizations for their contributions, stating that they have made sustainable impacts and implemented outstanding projects.

Continued Progress and Development

The National Center highlighted the continuous growth of the non-profit sector, including an increase in the number of volunteers and technically supervised units in government agencies. The governance of non-profit organizations has also seen significant development, with advanced levels of compliance achieved by 2023.

Decisions have been issued against certain non-profit organizations and individuals, including warnings and dismissals for civil society organizations. The sector continues to evolve, with a focus on improving governance and fulfilling targeted development roles.

Impressive Statistics and Achievements

In February, Minister Al-Rajhi emphasized the high level of satisfaction among beneficiaries of non-profit organizations’ services, reaching 86 percent. The sector boasts over 800,000 volunteers and has secured government contracts worth SR6 billion ($1.6 billion) since 2018. The growth and impact of the non-profit sector in Saudi Arabia are evident, with a promising future ahead.
