Rushing to Give Zakat Al-Fitr: Muslims Prepare for Eid Celebrations

As Eid approaches, Muslims around the world are eagerly preparing to give Zakat Al-Fitr, a charitable donation that is a mandatory part of the end of Ramadan festivities before the Eid prayers.

Zakat Al-Fitr is a fixed amount paid on behalf of each family member, usually in the form of wheat or rice as determined by scholars. This ensures that even the most impoverished individuals have the means to partake in the joyous celebrations.

Kingdom’s Zakat Funds Surpass $180 Million through Zakaty e-Service

The Kingdom’s Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority recently reported that zakat funds transferred through the Zakaty e-service have exceeded a total of more than SR675 million ($180 million) since its establishment seven years ago. Over 249,000 individuals have utilized the Zakaty platform.

The Zakaty service enables direct transfers of zakat to all social insurance beneficiaries registered with the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, facilitating a seamless and efficient process for those in need.

Secure Payment Options Available for Zakat Distribution

Through the Zakaty application for smartphones, beneficiaries can access various secure and reliable payment methods, including banks, SADAD, Apple Pay, Mada, and other secure options. This ensures the swift and flexible delivery of zakat funds to eligible recipients.

The authority emphasizes the importance of these reliable payment options in ensuring that zakat funds reach those in need quickly and efficiently.

Empowering Individuals to Calculate Zakat with Zakaty Service

Zakaty empowers individuals to calculate zakat for different types of assets, such as money, gold, silver, stocks, investment funds, and business-related real estate. The service also offers a reminder for zakat due dates and a tool to calculate zakat on gold based on purity level using real-time global prices.

During Ramadan, users engaged with Zakaty via zakaty.gov.sa, and many new users downloaded the application to take advantage of its services.

Sheikh Abdulaziz Al-Asheikh, the grand mufti of Saudi Arabia, has endorsed Zakaty as a dependable platform for receiving and disbursing Zakat to those in need, underscoring the significance of charitable giving in Islam.
