Riyadh’s Al-Balad District Welcomes 2.5 Million Visitors During Ramadan

In a remarkable display of effective crowd management and service excellence, Jeddah’s historic Al-Balad district has attracted 2.5 million visitors during the holy month of Ramadan.

Transformed into a sustainable urban model, the area, also known as Jeddah Historic District, offers a secure, organized, and easily navigable environment for all who visit, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency.

Over 830 dedicated employees worked tirelessly for over 250,000 hours to ensure cleanliness and hospitality were maintained throughout the period.

Utilizing more than 600 cleaning machines and tools, along with 16,000 liters of eco-friendly chemicals, workers ensured that public restrooms, serving an average of 5,000 users daily, were impeccably clean and water consumption was carefully managed.

Emphasizing waste management as a top priority, authorities collected and treated over 1,900 tons of waste, including 70 tons of cardboard boxes.

In terms of safety, 1,000 security personnel were stationed in the district, supported by eight rapid response teams and six ambulances on standby, according to SPA.

To control the crowds effectively, 350 organizers managed visitor flow at 14 key locations, while 70 golf carts were available for transportation to and from parking areas, enhancing accessibility for all.

Jeddah Historic District is currently undergoing a comprehensive revitalization program, which includes infrastructure improvements, building restoration, and a vibrant calendar of cultural events.

The ultimate goal is to position the district as a bustling hub for businesses, cultural initiatives, and entrepreneurs, solidifying its reputation as a welcoming and engaging destination for visitors from near and far.
