Breaking: Saudi Deputy Foreign Minister Meets with US Envoy to Address Sudan Conflict

Saudi Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Meets with US Special Envoy for Sudan in Paris

In a high-level meeting in Paris, Saudi Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Waleed Elkhereiji, and the US special envoy for Sudan, Tom Perriello, engaged in discussions on the sidelines of an international humanitarian conference for Sudan and its neighboring countries. The talks delved into the latest developments in the war-torn country, exploring avenues to strengthen cooperation between Saudi Arabia and the United States, and addressing other issues of mutual concern, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency.

International Aid Pledges Soar Over $2.13 Billion for Sudan

During the conference, donors pledged an impressive sum of over $2.13 billion in aid for Sudan, according to French President Emmanuel Macron. The event marked the first anniversary of a conflict that humanitarian workers described as neglected yet devastating. Efforts to assist millions of people on the brink of famine due to the civil war have faced obstacles such as ongoing clashes between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces, restrictions imposed by warring factions, and financial constraints stemming from global crises in regions like Gaza and Ukraine.
