Growing up in a household filled with creativity and self-expression, Saudi artist Hana Almilli found inspiration from her family. Her mother, a poet, and her father, a photographer, instilled a love for the arts in her and her two talented siblings. With a diverse cultural background of Saudi, Syrian, Turkish, Kurdish, and Palestinian ancestry, Almilli’s work delves into her history and identity through poetry, embroidery, weaving, dyeing, and photography.

At Art Dubai, Almilli’s work focuses on heritage, history, and personal narratives, drawing from her rich family history and cultural influences. Despite her close family ties, her art also explores themes of alienation and estrangement, reflected in her ongoing series “The Echoes of My Alienation.”

Having studied textiles and creative writing in the US, Almilli’s art reflects her journey of rediscovering her roots while being away from home. Her series features self-portraits and embroidered images of family members, symbolizing her search for identity and connection to her past.
