DUBAI: Egyptian director Hala Elkoussy’s film “East of Noon” has been chosen to be featured at the Cannes Film Festival Directors’ Fortnight, curated by artistic director Julien Rejl. This selection is part of a diverse lineup of 21 films that shine a light on global directors and their unique stories.

Revealing the Line-Up

Rejl unveiled the full line-up during a press conference held in Paris earlier this week for the Cannes parallel section organized by the French directors’ guild, the SRF.

Among the 21 films selected for this year’s edition, Elkoussy’s “East of Noon” stands out as one of the eight films either directed or co-directed by women, highlighting the increasing diversity and representation in the film industry.
