Exciting News: King Abdulaziz Royal Reserve Development Authority Launches Archaeological Survey in Saudi Arabia!

Saudi Arabia Launches Comprehensive Archaeological Survey in King Abdulaziz Royal Reserve

In a groundbreaking move, the King Abdulaziz Royal Reserve Development Authority in Saudi Arabia has announced the initiation of a thorough preliminary archaeological survey.

This monumental study, revealed on April 18 in celebration of World Heritage Day, aims to delve deep into the reserve and conduct extensive archaeological examinations to support its strategic goals. The ultimate objective is to meet the targets set for 2030 for the Kingdom’s royal reserves.

Collaborating with King Saud University and the Heritage Commission, the survey is being spearheaded by a team of expert national talents. The comprehensive study will utilize two methods: satellite imagery analysis and on-site visits for a meticulous “comprehensive archaeological survey.”

The survey will encompass research on the ancient environment, restoration of archaeological and historical sites, and the identification of potential tourist hotspots. Additionally, a preservation plan for existing and newly discovered sites will be developed.

Established by royal decree, the King Abdulaziz Royal Reserve is one of the seven reserves in Saudi Arabia. Holding governmental membership in the International Union for Conservation of Nature, it is overseen by an independent body led by the Minister of Interior Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif.
