Royal Saudi Air Force Participates in Desert Flag Military Exercise

In a show of strength and solidarity, personnel from the Royal Saudi Air Force have joined forces with allied nations at Al-Dhafra Air Base in the UAE for the Desert Flag military exercise.

Flight-Related Exercises and Strategic Planning

Over the course of three weeks, the participating forces will engage in a series of flight-related exercises, including defensive and offensive counter-air operations, close-air support, and combat search and rescue missions. This multinational effort includes personnel from Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Oman, Turkey, the US, France, and South Korea.

Lt. Col. Adel bin Saeed Abu Malha, the commander of the Saudi air force group, emphasized that the exercise is crucial for the exchange of military expertise in strategic planning and execution within a simulated wartime environment. The goal is to enhance operational readiness and combat efficiency for air and technical-support crews while strengthening the ties between participating nations.

Six Saudi F-15SA fighter jets, along with their full air, technical, and support crews, are actively participating in the exercise. The Saudi air force group arrived at Al-Dhafra Air Base last week to kick off their preparations, where they were warmly welcomed by Brig. Gen. Khalid Alhajiri, the military attache at the Saudi Embassy in the UAE.
