Calling all Saudi Photographers: Capture the Beauty of the Kingdom

Photographers in the Kingdom have a unique opportunity to showcase their skills and love for the environment until April 27. The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture’s Environmental Awareness Initiative is hosting a competition to find the best images and videos that highlight the natural splendor of Saudi Arabia.

The goal of this contest is to promote environmental awareness through the lens of art. By engaging the community in creating and sharing content that showcases the beauty of the Kingdom, the initiative aims to raise public understanding of environmental issues and encourage sustainable behaviors.

With Environment Week 2024 approaching in Saudi Arabia from April 28 to May 5, the theme “Do you know your environment?” sets the tone for the competition. Photographers from all over the country are invited to submit their best photographs, videos, or films that capture the essence of the nation’s environment.

A distinguished panel of judges will select the winners, who have the chance to win cash prizes of up to SR100,000 ($26,660), as reported by the Saudi Press Agency. Entrants must own the copyright to their submissions and cannot have won awards in other competitions. The ministry may use the submitted images for exhibitions, conferences, or social media, while respecting the photographers’ moral rights to their work.

The Environmental Awareness Initiative’s ultimate goal is to instill a sense of responsibility in individuals and groups to protect the Kingdom’s natural resources. By encouraging sustainable behaviors and promoting environmental awareness, the ministry hopes to create a ripple effect of positive change across the nation.
