In a display of academic excellence, two Saudi students have contributed to the Kingdom’s medal collection at the prestigious 2024 Mendeleev International Chemistry Olympiad, currently taking place in China from April 20-27.

Hassan Abdul Jalil Al-Khalifa, a third-grade secondary student hailing from the Provincial Department of Education in the Eastern Province, along with his peer Ali Salah Al-Moussa, proudly secured bronze medals at the competition. This achievement has propelled Saudi Arabia’s medal count to a total of three silver and 20 bronze medals.

The Olympiad, now in its 58th session, has attracted over 150 participants from 27 different countries, all vying for top honors in the field of chemistry.

Representing the Kingdom is a dedicated team of six students selected by the esteemed King Abdulaziz and his Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity, commonly known as Mawhiba.

These exceptional students underwent a rigorous selection process, attending various forums over a two-year period, before receiving specialized training from Mawhiba in collaboration with the esteemed King Abdullah University of Science and Technology.
