Fantasia Barrino-Taylor Rocks Monot in NYC! You Won’t Believe Her Style

Monot Dress Fantasia Barrino-Taylor for Time100 Gala

Lebanese designer Eli Mizrahi of New York-based label Monot created a stunning custom look for US actress Fantasia Barrino-Taylor at the 2024 Time100 Gala.

Barrino-Taylor dazzled in a head-to-toe sequined ensemble with dramatic wrist cuffs that extended to cover her hands. The figure-hugging, backless dress was perfectly complemented by a sleek black sequined head wrap.

Mizrahi is no stranger to dressing stars, having previously featured British supermodel Kate Moss, Italian star Mariacarla Boscono, British model Jourdan Dunn, US celebrity Amber Valletta, and China’s Xiao Wen in a Monot campaign shot in Saudi Arabia in 2020.

Celebrities like US Olympian Simone Biles, model Kendall Jenner, Brazilian influencer Camila Coelho, and US model Emily Ratajkowski have all been spotted in Monot creations, showcasing the label’s popularity among the A-list.

Aside from her fashion choices, Barrino-Taylor, known for her role in “The Color Purple,” made a splash at the Astra Film Awards in Los Angeles in January wearing a striking gown by Saudi designer Yousef Akbar.

In “The Color Purple,” Barrino-Taylor played the lead role of Celie, a character who overcomes numerous challenges, including an abusive husband, with the help of supportive figures like singer Shug Avery and her stepdaughter.

At the Los Angeles event, Barrino-Taylor accessorized Akbar’s gown with bold gold jewelry and a sleek hairstyle, once again proving her impeccable sense of style.
