Dubai’s Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum Unveils $34.85 Billion Passenger Terminal in Al Maktoum International Airport

In a groundbreaking announcement, Dubai’s ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum has given the green light for a new passenger terminal in Al Maktoum International Airport, with an estimated cost of 128 billion dirhams ($34.85 billion). This move marks a significant milestone in the evolution of Dubai’s aviation industry.

Setting the Stage for the World’s Largest Airport

The new Al Maktoum International Airport is set to become the largest airport in the world, boasting an impressive capacity of up to 260 million passengers. This ambitious project is five times the size of the current Dubai International Airport, signaling Dubai’s commitment to redefining the standards of air travel.

The state-of-the-art airport will feature 400 terminal gates and five runways, providing a seamless and efficient travel experience for passengers. All operations at Dubai airport will eventually be shifted to Al Maktoum in the coming years, further enhancing the airport’s status as a global aviation hub.

A New Home for Emirates and Flydubai

Emirates, Dubai’s flagship carrier, and its sister low-cost airline Flydubai will make Al Maktoum airport their new home. This strategic move underscores Dubai’s commitment to strengthening its aviation sector and enhancing connectivity with the rest of the world.
