Saudi Space Agency Partners with World Economic Forum to Launch Center for Space Futures

In an exciting development, the Saudi Space Agency has announced a partnership with the World Economic Forum to establish the Center for Space Futures this autumn, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency.

This new center is set to be a hub for discussions on space collaboration, drawing on the best practices from the forum and its communities to drive innovation in the global space sector. It aims to generate forward-looking contributions that will accelerate space technologies and shape the future of space exploration.

CEO of the Saudi Space Agency, Mohammed Al-Tamimi, expressed the center’s commitment to fostering a vibrant, prosperous, and sustainable space economy on a global scale. By developing principles, expanding knowledge, refining models, and cultivating partnerships, the center aims to harness the vast opportunities of space in a responsible manner.

Jeremy Jurgens, managing director of the WEF, highlighted the significant impact of the global space sector on Earth, from monitoring climate change to enhancing human connectivity through satellites. He emphasized the integration of the Center for Space Futures into the Center for the Fourth Industrial Revolution network, underscoring the importance of space technological innovation, policies, regulations, and sustainability.

This groundbreaking center will be the first within the C4IR network to focus exclusively on space-related initiatives. It will work in conjunction with C4IR Saudi Arabia to further the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, the country’s strategic plan for economic diversification, global engagement, and enhanced quality of life.
