Saudi Arabia’s Tourism Targets May Change Based on Performance, Says Deputy Minister
In an exclusive interview with Arab News at the Future Hospitality Summit in Riyadh, Deputy Minister Mahmoud Abdulhadi revealed that Saudi Arabia is open to adjusting its goal of attracting 150 million visitors by 2030 if targets are met ahead of schedule.
Adjusting Targets for Success
Abdulhadi emphasized that hitting the initial target of 100 million visitors ahead of schedule prompted the establishment of a new goal. He stated, “If we exceed our new target ahead of time, we will not hesitate to readjust our goals.”

Despite potential changes in targets, Abdulhadi assured that the Ministry of Tourism’s plans remain focused on sustainability and growth in the sector. He highlighted the need to accelerate certain plans and make modifications to accommodate the increasing number of tourists.

Abdulhadi discussed the ministry’s role in regulating the tourism sector and promoting investment to create sustainable destinations. He emphasized the importance of working with government partners and regional development authorities to ensure the delivery of promises made at the national level.
Creating Jobs and Training Opportunities
The ministry is committed to creating one million additional jobs in the sector and has partnered with international operators and training providers to train over 100,000 Saudis annually. Abdulhadi highlighted the importance of collaboration with the private sector to meet ambitious goals.
