Amy Schumer Stands Firm on Israel Controversy
In the midst of Israel’s ongoing conflict with Gaza, US comedian-actress Amy Schumer is not backing down from her support for the Jewish people while also criticizing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
In an interview with Variety, Schumer made it clear that she does not agree with Netanyahu’s actions, stating, “I don’t agree with anything that Netanyahu is doing, and neither do the Israelis I know.” She emphasized her dismay at the situation in Gaza, calling it “sickening, horrifying, and unthinkable,” and stressed the importance of not judging individuals based on their Jewish identity.
Despite facing backlash for her social media posts, Schumer continues to advocate for Israel’s operation and has used her platform on Instagram to raise awareness about the conflict and urge for the release of hostages in Gaza. She is part of a group of over 700 Hollywood personalities, including Jamie Lee Curtis, Gal Gadot, and Jerry Seinfeld, who have signed an open letter from the Creative Community for Peace in solidarity with Israel.
