Pakistan anticipates influx of top-tier Saudi investors amid investment drive

Pakistan Anticipates Continued High-Level Business Delegations from Saudi Arabia

In a recent announcement, the Foreign Office of Pakistan revealed that the country is expecting ongoing visits by high-level business delegations from Saudi Arabia in the coming weeks. These visits aim to further explore investment opportunities facilitated under the Special Investment Facilitation Council.

Prime Minister’s Visit to Riyadh

The statement follows Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s recent visit to Riyadh, where he participated in the two-day World Economic Forum conference. During his trip, Sharif met with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and various Saudi ministers to enhance bilateral relations and economic partnerships between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

Strengthening Economic Ties

Prior to the Prime Minister’s visit, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan led a large delegation to Islamabad, emphasizing the Pakistani government’s commitment to strengthening the economy, which is expected to yield significant benefits.

Robust Dialogue and Investment Opportunities

Foreign Office spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch highlighted the ongoing engagement between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia in exploring investment opportunities, particularly in the energy sector. She mentioned the active involvement of Saudi investors with the SIFC and the anticipation of more high-level business delegations visiting Pakistan in the near future.

Denial of Rumors

Addressing rumors about Pakistan providing military bases to the US, Baloch categorically denied any such plans, stating that Pakistan has no intention of offering bases to any foreign country against another.

Focus on OIC Summit

Baloch also discussed Pakistan’s participation in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s summit in Gambia, where Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar will address various issues, including the ongoing genocide in Gaza, the right to self-determination of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, Islamophobia, climate change, terrorism, and other global challenges.

Condemnation of Israeli Actions

Pakistan strongly condemned Israel’s violations of human rights and the expansion of illegal settlements in the West Bank, labeling these actions as breaches of international law. Baloch emphasized that such acts undermine the prospects of a two-state solution in the region.
