Saudi Minister Urges Regional Action to Combat Environmental Challenges

In a powerful statement at the 38th meeting of the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development in Riyadh, Saudi Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Abdulrahman Al-Fadli emphasized the crucial need for united regional action to address the pressing environmental challenges facing the Middle East and North Africa region, as well as the world, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency.

Al-Fadli highlighted the importance of biodiversity, the region’s natural resources, and the diverse agricultural environments, while also underscoring the significant challenges that the area is currently facing. He called for a collaborative effort to mitigate the impact on the region’s populations.

The minister expressed confidence in the Arab region’s potential to leverage technology and innovation, seize opportunities for agricultural investment, and enhance practices to boost productivity, efficiency, and sustainability in the utilization of water and natural resources.

He also emphasized the benefits of strengthening trade, fostering regional and international cooperation, and leveraging international organizations as sources of optimism for the region.

Ibrahim Al Dukhairi, the director general of the organization, echoed Al-Fadli’s sentiments by pledging unwavering support for sustainability and agricultural development in the region. He highlighted the importance of implementing strategies to launch necessary initiatives and forge partnerships to achieve the region’s overarching goals.
