Epic Metal Band Showdown in Jeddah – Who Will Reign Supreme?

The stage was set for an epic showdown as Wacken Metal Battle Middle East rolled into Jeddah’s Makan Music Center on Friday night, giving local metal bands a chance to unleash their musical talents.

Bands like Jaheem, Volfram, Kaizer, and Wasted Land battled it out for the top spot, creating a night to remember for metal fans in the region.

Supported by the German Consulate in Jeddah and European Weeks in Saudi Arabia, Wacken Metal Battle Middle East is a gateway to the renowned Wacken music festival in Germany. A panel of music experts and international judges, including representatives from Germany, evaluated the bands based on various criteria such as technical skill, songwriting, and stage presence.

The jury crowned Wasted Land as the champions of the night, earning them a coveted spot at the Wacken festival in Hamburg. Adding to the excitement, the previous year’s winners, Erasing Mankind from Egypt, graced the stage as guest performers.

Promoter Monika Bremer expressed, “Metal Battle Middle East has been a launching pad for many emerging bands over the past decade, propelling their careers forward. This anniversary edition marks a significant milestone for the regional metal scene.

“Thanks to our partners’ support, up-and-coming metal acts have the chance to showcase their talents and gain valuable experience,” she added.

Emad Ashor, a judge and guitarist/vocalist of Jeddah’s Immortal Pain, emphasized the importance of talent, passion, and professionalism in the competition. He stated, “This platform allows bands to explore new horizons and chase victory.”

Karim Mounir, a judge and bassist of Erasing Mankind, shared, “Wacken embodies living in the moment and fostering unity among bands and fans. Live performances are where bands truly shine, and the exceptional talent and musicianship of the Saudi metal scene have proven their readiness for such a prestigious event.

“The band that can captivate Wacken’s energetic and inclusive crowd most effectively would be a fitting ambassador from the Middle East.”

Saudi band Volfram reflected on the night, calling it a “unique and unforgettable experience.”

Looking back on their journey to the final, a member of Kaizer said, “Being part of this competition is an honor, and sharing the stage with amazing bands is a memory we’ll cherish forever.

“Kaizer is just starting out and has much more to offer. Our aim is to represent the Saudi metal scene in the most impactful way possible. Being crowned Jeddah’s Heaviest Music by the crowd is a recognition we deeply value.”
