Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization Holds 121st Executive Council Session in Jeddah

Ministers and representatives from 22 Arab nations convened in Jeddah for the start of the 121st session of the Executive Council of the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization. The session, hosted by the Saudi National Committee for Education, Culture and Science, will span two days and will be followed by the organization’s General Conference on Friday.

Addressing Critical Issues and Initiatives

The participants will engage in discussions on crucial topics, initiatives, and proposals aimed at advancing knowledge sharing, scientific progress, and innovation within the organization’s framework, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency.

Condemnation of Gaza Crisis

Chairperson of ALESCO’s Executive Council, Hani Al-Moqbel, expressed deep concern over the crisis faced by Palestinians due to the conflict in Gaza. He condemned the violence and brutality of the conflict, denouncing the destruction inflicted by the Israeli military on hospitals, schools, and cultural sites.

Promoting Arab Cultural Heritage

Director General of ALECSO, Mohammed Walad Amar, emphasized the organization’s commitment to showcasing the cultural heritage of Arab countries globally. ALECSO has collaborated with various nations to secure recognition for their cultural treasures on the UNESCO World Heritage List, showcasing their rich history and heritage.

Discussions on the opening day encompassed the challenges faced by Arab nations in the fields of education, culture, and science, exploring innovative solutions and forging partnerships to broaden educational horizons and foster critical thinking.
