Arab Stars Shine at the 77th Cannes Film Festival
The Cannes Film Festival is back with a bang, and this year, Arab stars and designers are stealing the show in the dazzling French Riviera setting.
Yara Alnamlah:
Saudi influencer Yara Alnamlah set the red carpet on fire in a stunning look by designer Rami Kadi. Adorned with Chaumet jewels, including the Wheat necklace from Le Jardin de Chaumet High Jewellery collection, she made heads turn.
Shanina Shaik:
Australian-born model Shanina Shaik, with Saudi, Pakistani, and Lithuanian roots, wowed in a scarlet dress by Lebanese couturier Zuhair Murad. Her strapless gown from the Fall 2024 collection featured a sweetheart neckline and a dramatic overskirt.
Heidi Klum:
US German model and TV host Heidi Klum turned heads in a bold red gown by Lebanese designer Saiid Kobeisy. The dress, gathering at the waist and revealing one leg, featured silk fabric draping around her.
Jane Fonda:
US actress Jane Fonda rocked a black jumpsuit with crystal embroidery from Lebanese designer Elie Saab’s Fall 2019 collection. She completed her look with a leopard-print overcoat.
The Films:
The festival opened with the premiere of “The Second Act,” a French comedy starring Lea Seydoux, Vincent Lindon, Louis Garrel, and Raphaël Quenard. The actors play squabbling actors filming a movie directed by artificial intelligence.
Meryl Streep:
The much-loved Meryl Streep received an honorary Palme d’Or during the opening ceremony, leading to a thunderous standing ovation. She danced and celebrated with the crowd, officially declaring Cannes open alongside Juliette Binoche.
