New Digital ID System for International Pilgrims in Saudi Arabia!

Saudi Ministry of Interior Launches Digital Identity Service for Pilgrims

In a groundbreaking move, the Saudi Ministry of Interior has introduced a digital identity service for pilgrims arriving in the Kingdom with a Hajj visa for this year’s season. This service, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency, is a part of the government’s efforts to drive digital transformation and utilize technology to assist individuals in line with the objectives of the Saudi Vision 2030.

Developed in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, and the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority, this service is tailored for those partaking in the annual pilgrimage. It allows pilgrims to electronically verify their identity through the Absher and Tawakkalna platforms, streamlining the process for them.

The primary goal of this initiative is to simplify the use of digital identity for pilgrims, thereby enhancing the quality of services provided to them and elevating their overall experience. By embracing digital advancements, the Ministry aims to ensure that pilgrims receive top-notch service and stay abreast of the latest developments in digital transformation throughout their time in Saudi Arabia.

Additionally, the General Directorate of Passports unveiled a special passport stamp on Wednesday specifically designed for individuals benefiting from the Makkah Route Initiative. This stamp, which features the initiative’s visual identity, will be accessible through designated lounges at 11 airports across seven countries participating in the initiative, including Morocco, Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Turkiye, and Cote d’Ivoire.

The Makkah Route Initiative, a part of the ministry’s efforts to serve pilgrims, underscores the Kingdom’s commitment to enhancing the Hajj experience for all visitors.
