In a monumental meeting in Doha, top ministers from Gulf Cooperation Council countries came together to discuss the Joint Housing Action Plan for 2024, signaling a new era of coordinated efforts in housing projects.
Saudi Minister Leads the Way
Saudi Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing Majid Al-Hogail led the Kingdom’s delegation at the 22nd meeting of the GCC Housing Ministers Committee in Qatar’s capital. Key housing issues were deliberated, and multiple decisions were made under his leadership.
Decisions Made
The approval of the Real Estate Incentive Guide was a significant step, aiming to connect landowners with developers and financial entities. Additionally, the guide for evaluating the flexibility of cities in housing and the economic framework for partnership with private institutions to boost investment in the real estate sector were also approved.
Exciting Announcements
The sixth edition of the GCC Housing Work Award was launched, focusing on “Smart Digital Applications and Technologies in Housing Projects and Programs.” The award’s value was increased to SR375,000 ($99,987) to encourage wider participation.
Regional and International Participation
Ministers stressed the importance of showcasing the region’s efforts in accommodation by actively participating in regional and international activities. The UAE was nominated for prestigious memberships in key organizations, highlighting the region’s growing influence.
Future Collaborations
Discussions were held on signing agreements with specialized organizations serving the residency sector, such as the International Federation for Housing and Planning and the International Housing Association. The activation of mechanisms for exchanging experts among GCC countries was also emphasized.
Exhibition Highlights
Following the meeting, an exhibition showcased the prominent efforts and projects of ministries in the Gulf countries. Qatar’s Minister of Social Development and Family Mariam Al-Misnad honored the GCC ministers, highlighting the unity and collaboration among the nations.
