Saudi Arabian Mining Co. Ma’aden Extracts Lithium from Seawater
In an exciting development, Ma’aden has successfully extracted lithium from seawater, marking a significant milestone in the company’s efforts. Although the levels extracted are not yet commercially viable, the project is currently in the pilot stage, as revealed by the CEO in an exclusive interview with Reuters.
“We are actually producing lithium from seawater now,” shared Robert Wilt, CEO of Ma’aden, showcasing the company’s innovative approach to sustainable mining practices.
Wilt, who also serves as the vice chairman of Manara Minerals, dismissed any speculations about the company’s interest in acquiring the diamond business De Beers. “We are not looking at De Beers at all,” he clarified, focusing on the current groundbreaking work being done in the lithium extraction project.
