The Middle School Happiness Club in Jeddah: Spreading Joy and Kindness

Meet Aya Shata, the 13-year-old dynamo behind the Middle School Happiness Club at the American International School in Jeddah. Her mission? To enhance mental well-being and school spirit through acts of kindness and community service.

From distributing food packages to participating in charitable programs like Iftar Saem during Ramadan, Shata has always been dedicated to giving back to her community.

The Happiness Club, a recent addition to the school, has quickly become a vital part of the institution’s fabric. With 30 members from various middle school grades, the club aims to promote social responsibility and personal development among students.

Spreading Joy Across Jeddah

The club’s initiatives have already made a significant impact. From delivering essential food items to over 200 people in Jeddah to organizing Eid clothing drives, the Happiness Club is making a difference in the community.

According to Shata, middle school can be a challenging time for many teens. The club provides a platform for students to connect through acts of kindness and shared activities, fostering a sense of unity and compassion.

Creating Lasting Change

In partnership with Kiswat Al-Sayida Aisha, the club organized a clothing collection drive and distributed Eid clothing and iftar meals to orphans and children in need. The club’s collaboration with leading nonprofit AlOula has also allowed them to bring joy to families in Bahra through toy donations and Eid money.

The program has taught students about the power of community and the importance of giving back. From organizing Mother’s Day events to hosting middle school iftars, the Happiness Club is dedicated to spreading positivity and unity.

Impactful Lessons and Lasting Impressions

For students like Mahdiya Elegbede, joining the Happiness Club has been a lesson in kindness and creating a positive impact on others’ lives. The club has inspired students like Hamza Al-Tayyar and Aseel Al-Horaibi to give back to their community and spread positivity.

With the support of the school administration, the club has big plans to continue making a positive difference both within the school and beyond in Jeddah.
