Riyadh Hosts ICAO Facilitation Global Summit, Recognizing Saudi Arabia’s Leading Position in Aviation Sector

In a significant move, the International Civil Aviation Organization has chosen Riyadh as the host city for its Facilitation Global Summit, highlighting Saudi Arabia’s prominent role in the aviation industry. Abdulaziz Al-Duailej, president of the Kingdom’s General Authority of Civil Aviation, emphasized that this decision acknowledges the Kingdom’s exceptional contributions to the global civil aviation community.

Sharing Initiatives to Enhance Passenger Experience

The ICAO Facilitation 2024 Global Summit kicked off in Riyadh on May 21, coinciding with the Future Aviation Forum in the Saudi capital. Al-Duailej seized the opportunity during the opening speech to showcase the initiatives implemented by GACA in Saudi Arabia to improve the passenger experience.

Industry Experts Convene to Discuss Opportunities and Challenges

With 30 speakers and over 500 aviation experts and specialists in attendance, the summit aims to address the opportunities and challenges facing the aviation industry. Al-Duailej highlighted GACA’s monitoring and inspection program to ensure Saudi international airports adhere to ICAO’s Annex 9 directives.

Saudi Arabia’s Commitment to Aviation Safety and Cooperation

Al-Duailej emphasized Saudi Arabia’s collaboration with international aviation authorities and ongoing investments in advanced safety technologies to enhance the travel experience for passengers transiting through the Kingdom’s airports. ICAO President Salvatore Sciacchitano praised Saudi Arabia as a “model” for sustainable aviation practices and predicted a significant increase in global air traffic by 2050.

Sciacchitano highlighted the role of technological advancements in accelerating the growth of the aviation sector, enabling more airplanes to take to the skies and enhancing efficiency on the ground.
