Shocking! Saudi authorities round up 17,030 illegal immigrants in just one week

Saudi Authorities Crack Down on Violators

In a swift and decisive move, Saudi authorities have arrested a staggering 17,030 individuals within just one week for various breaches of residency, work, and border security regulations. This crackdown comes as part of the kingdom’s ongoing efforts to maintain law and order.

According to a report released by the Saudi Press Agency, a total of 10,662 individuals were apprehended for violating residency laws, while 4,147 were detained for attempting illegal border crossings. Additionally, 2,221 individuals were held accountable for labor-related offenses.

The breakdown of the arrests revealed that out of the 1,119 individuals caught attempting to enter the kingdom illegally, a majority of 71 percent were Ethiopian nationals, followed by 27 percent Yemenis, and 2 percent from other nationalities. Furthermore, 65 individuals were intercepted while trying to cross into neighboring countries, and 17 were taken into custody for their involvement in transporting and harboring violators.

The Saudi Ministry of Interior issued a stern warning, stating that anyone found aiding illegal entry into the kingdom, whether by providing transportation or shelter, could face severe penalties. These penalties include imprisonment for up to 15 years, a hefty fine of up to SR1 million ($260,000), as well as the confiscation of vehicles and property.

To combat such violations, the ministry has urged the public to report any suspicious activities by calling the toll-free numbers 911 in the Makkah and Riyadh regions, and 999 or 996 in other regions of the kingdom. It is clear that Saudi Arabia is leaving no stone unturned in its quest to maintain security and uphold the rule of law.
