Rare Birth of Three Ibex in Saudi Arabia’s National Park!

Three Ibex Born in King Abdullah National Park’s Red Rock Zone

In a groundbreaking development, three ibex were born in the Red Rock Zone of King Abdullah National Park following the release of 23 ibex into the wild by Soudah Development, a Public Investment Fund company, in collaboration with the National Center for Wildlife last year.

The birth of the ibex is a crucial step towards preserving and enriching Saudi Arabia’s biodiversity, marking a significant milestone in joint reintroduction and conservation efforts that align with the environmental goals of the Saudi Green Initiative and Vision 2030.

The two newborns were delivered by two adult ibex, while the third was delivered by a two-year-old ibex, showcasing the successful breeding within the population.

Soudah Development is actively monitoring a herd of nine ibex to ensure their health and study their habitat preferences, demonstrating a commitment to the well-being of the species.

Saleh Aloraini, CEO of Soudah Development, expressed his excitement over the successful births, stating, “The successful births of the ibex signify a major step forward in our mission to reintroduce endangered species and revitalize the ecosystem within the region. This development not only reflects our dedication to conservation but also highlights our unwavering commitment to the Saudi Green Initiative.”
