Saudi Armed Forces Command and Staff College to Transform into National Defense University

Get ready for a major shift in the Saudi Armed Forces Command and Staff College as it gears up to become the National Defense University, according to the Saudi Press Agency’s latest report.

The transformation will unfold in five key stages: first, laying the groundwork for change within the college; next, conducting a thorough analysis of the college’s current status; then, benchmarking against top international models; followed by designing the university’s structure and programs; and finally, preparing for its official launch into operation.

By 2030, the vision for the new university is to establish itself as a leading regional institution, renowned for its excellence in training and equipping military and civilian leaders in defense and national security.

This ambitious goal will be realized through cutting-edge educational programs that are both innovative and effective, aligning closely with the Kingdom’s strategic interests, as noted by SPA.

Initially founded in 1958, the Saudi Armed Forces Command and Staff College has a rich history of preparing Saudi army officers for command and staff roles. The college boasts top-notch facilities including a command building, educational centers, war exercise facilities, a printing press, housing accommodations, and dedicated services for students and staff, all contributing to a world-class learning environment.

Standout features of the college include the War Wing, specializing in strategic and operational training for officers, and the Armed Forces Strategic Studies Center, dedicated to research activities.

With the transition to the National Defense University, the institution is poised to continue meeting the Kingdom’s national security requirements, ensuring it remains a leader in defense education and leadership development for years to come.
