Meet Dr. Ahmad Alsinan: NEOM’s Strategic Opportunities Mastermind

Since September 2023, Dr. Ahmad Alsinan has been leading the charge as head of strategic opportunities at NEOM’s deputy CEO’s office.

Alsinan’s role involves strategizing, coordinating, and executing various business opportunities. He oversees a dynamic team, collaborates with internal and external stakeholders, and plays a crucial role in shaping investments, investor deals, joint ventures, partnerships, and alliances. Additionally, he manages due diligence processes, evaluates investment performance, and presents investment proposals to NEOM’s board of directors.

In 2022, Alsinan made a significant impact at NEOM Mobility as the head of strategy, business, and corporate development. He spearheaded a multibillion-dollar partnership proposal to enhance the future sustainable mobility ecosystem at NEOM. Notably, he successfully closed a groundbreaking $100 million joint venture deal with Pony.ai and led the green hydrogen mobility project at NEOM.

Recognized for his expertise, Alsinan was appointed as NEOM’s corporate representative on Saudi Arabia’s Governance and Regulatory Framework Committee for Modern and Future Mobility Enablement.

Prior to joining NEOM, Alsinan made waves at Aramco Ventures as a corporate venturing principal and head of sustainability investments. He led global business deals related to hydrogen, e-fuels, GHG emission detection, energy storage, renewables, and carbon capture, while also developing venturing strategies in digital transformation.

His journey began as a research scientist at Saudi Aramco’s Research and Development Center, focusing on computational modeling of crude oil separation processes. Over time, he transitioned to technology strategy and planning, leading the development of Saudi Aramco’s Oil to Hydrogen Strategy and representing the company in national hydrogen initiatives.

With a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from the University of California at Santa Barbara, a master’s degree in computer science from the University of Southern California, and a bachelor’s degree in software engineering, Alsinan brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to his current role at NEOM.
