Saudi Minister and UN Executive Discuss Environmental Issues on World Environment Day

In a high-profile meeting at the ministry’s headquarters in Riyadh, Saudi minister of state for foreign affairs and climate envoy, Adel Al-Jubeir, sat down with Inger Andersen, executive director of the UN Environment Programme, to delve into pressing environmental matters.

The two influential figures delved into topics ranging from cooperation between Saudi Arabia and UNEP to initiatives and efforts undertaken by the Kingdom to safeguard the environment and combat climate change.

Their meeting, which coincided with World Environment Day on June 5, featured discussions around this year’s theme, “Our Land, Our Future.” Saudi Arabia marked the occasion with a grand event at the King Abdulaziz International Conference Center in Riyadh, underscoring the urgency for global investment in nature conservation, land rehabilitation, and sustainable practices.

The event also spotlighted the crucial role of national and international collaborations, advocating for the rehabilitation of ecosystems worldwide to advance the UN’s sustainable development goals.
