The agreement was unveiled in Hong Kong in the presence of Saudi Consul General Hamad Al-Jibreen, Hong Kong Minister of Transport and Logistics Mr. Lam Sai-hung, and top executives from ACP and Cathay Pacific.

Majid Khan, CEO of ACP, expressed his enthusiasm, stating: “Launching direct flights between Hong Kong and Riyadh with Cathay Pacific will strengthen Saudi Arabia’s air connectivity network with our key markets.”

“Travelers from Hong Kong and Cathay Pacific’s extensive network, covering China, Australia, New Zealand, Southeast Asia, and other Asia-Pacific countries, will have the opportunity to discover the abundant tourism offerings of Saudi Arabia.”

Ronald Lam, CEO of Cathay Pacific Group, emphasized that this move would enhance the airline’s presence in the Middle East. The new flights aim to provide more travel choices and enhanced comfort for passengers traveling to and from the Kingdom, opening up avenues for business, trade, and tourism.

Lam added: “As the premier airline in Hong Kong, our mission is to connect Hong Kong, mainland China, and the global community. Cathay Pacific is fully supportive of the government’s Belt and Road Initiative, currently serving 21 destinations in 14 participating countries worldwide.

“We are committed to expanding our aviation services on existing key routes and establishing new connections between Hong Kong and countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative.”

ACP plays a crucial role as the driving force behind the National Tourism Strategy and the National Aviation Strategy, promoting collaboration and forging partnerships between key stakeholders in the public and private sectors within the tourism and aviation industries.
