Exciting News: Green Riyadh Unveils Plans for Three Massive Parks!

Riyadh’s Green Revolution: Construction Begins on Three Massive Parks

In a groundbreaking move for Riyadh’s megaprojects, Green Riyadh has officially kicked off construction on three expansive parks within the city, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency on Sunday.

Enhancing Quality of Life

Covering a combined area of over 550,000 square meters, the parks are strategically located in the districts of Al-Munsiyah, Al-Rimal, and Al-Qadisiyah. This initiative, spearheaded by King Salman in 2019 and driven by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, aims to elevate the quality of life for both residents and visitors of Riyadh by creating ample recreational spaces.

A Sustainable Future

The ultimate goal of the Green Riyadh project is to boost the per capita green space by 16 times its current level, transforming Riyadh into a global leader in sustainability. By aligning with the Saudi Green Initiative and Vision 2030, which includes the ambitious target of planting 10 billion trees in the Kingdom, Green Riyadh is paving the way towards a greener future.

Revolutionizing Riyadh’s Landscape

With plans to plant 7.5 million trees and increase green cover to 9 percent of the city’s total area, Green Riyadh is set to make a significant impact on Riyadh’s environment. By enhancing green spaces, the project aims to reduce temperatures, improve air quality, and combat pollution and dust in the city.

An Oasis in the Desert

The three major parks in eastern Riyadh seamlessly blend with the natural beauty of Wadi Sulay, offering a unique oasis for residents and visitors alike. These parks are not just recreational spaces but also serve as vital connectors to the surrounding area, with tree-lined pedestrian walkways linking them to the sports track.

Features and Amenities

These parks boast an array of amenities, including 18 km of walking trails, 8 km of running tracks, 8.5 km of bicycle paths, and 22 children’s play areas designed to foster environmental awareness. With green amphitheaters, plazas, open-air theaters, sports facilities, and water features, visitors can expect a truly immersive and enriching experience.

Expanding Green Spaces

In addition to the major parks, Green Riyadh is also focusing on greening residential neighborhoods, constructing neighborhood parks, planting trees along streets, and landscaping public spaces. With a commitment to planting trees in various locations across the city, Green Riyadh is set to transform Riyadh into a greener and more sustainable urban environment.

Building a Greener Future

To support these initiatives, Green Riyadh is developing an extensive irrigation network spanning 1,350 km across the city. With nurseries producing 3 million trees annually, the project is well-equipped to meet the landscaping demands of Riyadh’s green revolution.
