Saudi Ministry of Commerce Ensures Consumer Protection Ahead of Hajj

In preparation for the upcoming Hajj pilgrimage, the Saudi Ministry of Commerce has deployed inspection teams to central Makkah and the surrounding roads to enforce consumer protection regulations at commercial outlets.

The teams have conducted a total of 24,880 visits to various locations including the central area of the Grand Mosque, the Haramain express train, commercial centers, sales outlets, gold and jewelry markets, service centers, petrol stations, and the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah and its surrounding markets.

During these inspections, a total of 1,259 immediate violations were recorded, highlighting the importance of ensuring compliance with consumer protection laws.

This initiative is part of the ministry’s operational plan for the Hajj season in Makkah, Madinah, and the holy sites. The goal is to guarantee the availability of food commodities for pilgrims and visitors, while also ensuring that commercial establishments strictly adhere to consumer protection regulations.
