Makkah Hosts the 48th Grand Hajj Symposium: Emphasizing Compliance and Safety

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah in Makkah recently held the 48th Grand Hajj Symposium, focusing on the significance of religious concessions and adherence to regulations during Hajj.

The esteemed event saw the participation of Minister of Hajj and Umrah Tawfiq Al-Rabiah, alongside over 500 scholars and intellectuals from around the globe.

Key Points Highlighted at the Symposium

During the symposium, Sheikh Abdulaziz Al-Asheikh, the grand mufti of Saudi Arabia, emphasized the Kingdom’s duty in safeguarding the Two Holy Mosques and the well-being of pilgrims.

He stressed the importance of obtaining a pilgrimage permit and following regulations, stating that non-compliance is considered a sin under Shariah law.

Minister Al-Rabiah also emphasized the necessity for pilgrims to collaborate with security authorities and be aware of available services during Hajj.

Efforts were made to inform pilgrims about regulations, and campaigns were launched to educate them on the risks of non-compliance and combat fraudulent activities.

Ensuring Safety and Security During Hajj

Lt. Gen. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Bassami, director of Public Security and chairman of the Hajj Security Committee, assured that security forces are fully prepared to prevent any threats to the safety of pilgrims.

He warned that individuals without the necessary permits would face arrest, a fine of SR10,000 ($2,666), and deportation for foreigners and residents.

Al-Bassami announced the use of technology, including artificial intelligence, to monitor pilgrim numbers at Jamarat Bridge and enhance security measures during the Hajj season.

With 8,000 surveillance cameras in Makkah and the holy sites, security personnel are actively monitoring and enforcing compliance with Hajj regulations to ensure a safe and peaceful pilgrimage experience.
