Flyadeal Takes Delivery of First Fully-Owned Aircraft

In a monumental moment for Saudi Arabia’s low-cost airline flyadeal, the company has received its first-ever wholly-owned aircraft, marking a significant milestone according to the CEO.

Introduction of Airbus A320neo “Al Sama”

The Airbus A320neo, named Al Sama after an Arabic constellation star, was delivered to flyadeal in Toulouse, Airbus’ main assembly site. This acquisition is the airline’s first new aircraft in 2024 and signifies the beginning of a delivery plan that includes adding four more vessels this year and eight A320neos in 2025.

Expansion of Route Network

The newly acquired aircraft will join flyadeal’s expanding domestic and international route network, serving nearly 30 destinations across Saudi Arabia, the Middle East, Europe, and North Africa.

CEO’s Comments on Milestone Achievement

Flyadeal CEO Steven Greenway, along with colleagues Ahmed Bakadam and Ali Al-Zahrani, gathered in France for the official exchange of the aircraft. Greenway expressed the significance of this moment, stating that the addition of aircraft number 33 represents a double milestone for flyadeal as it brings in their first fully owned aircraft and introduces the first new aircraft into the fleet this year.

Future Growth Plans and Partnership with Airbus

With plans to expand their fleet to around 50 aircraft by the end of 2025 and 100 by 2030, Greenway emphasized the demand for inbound and outbound travel that is driving the airline’s growth. He expressed satisfaction with their partnership with Airbus and highlighted the comfort and eco-friendliness of the A320neo, underscoring their commitment to providing passengers with a positive flying experience.

Future Fleet Requirements

In a recent development, flyadeal placed its largest ever order for a further 51 Airbus A320 family aircraft, comprising 12 A320neos and 39 larger A321neos, to meet future fleet requirements. The A320neo features a spacious cabin of 186 seats in a three–three configuration, setting high standards for seating and specifications for a low-cost airline.
