Mashaer Metro: The Ultimate Pilgrim Transport System!

Metro Makes Hajj Journey Swift and Comfortable

In a remarkable display of efficiency and convenience, hundreds of thousands of pilgrims utilized the Mashaer metro system to journey from Mina to Arafat on Saturday, marking the beginning of the most crucial day of the Hajj pilgrimage.

The Mashaer metro network comprises nine strategically located stations spread across the holy sites, connected by an 18-kilometer double-track railway. Capable of accommodating a staggering 72,000 passengers per hour in a single direction, the metro ensures a seamless and swift travel experience for pilgrims. The journey from Mina to Arafat is completed in just 20 minutes, with trains zooming at a speed of 80 km per hour, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency.

With a fleet of 17 trains, each capable of carrying 3,000 passengers, the eco-friendly electric trains not only alleviate traffic congestion but also significantly reduce carbon emissions by replacing approximately 50,000 passenger buses during the Hajj season.

Managed by the Facilities Security Forces under the vigilant supervision of the Ministry of Interior, the metro system has revolutionized transportation for pilgrims embarking on the spiritual journey of a lifetime.

Khalil Hasan, an Egyptian pilgrim on his second Hajj pilgrimage, expressed his amazement at the modern advancements in the holy sites.

“The transformation since my last Hajj almost 30 years ago is astounding. The sight of the metro gliding between stations amidst the holy sites adds a touch of grandeur and significantly enhances the services provided by the kingdom,” Hasan remarked.

Reflecting on his first Hajj experience, Hasan’s lifelong friend, AbdulTawab, marveled at the convenience offered by the metro service.

“It’s truly a marvel, and I am indebted to the Kingdom for this seamless metro service that eases the movement of pilgrims, particularly the elderly, making their journey from one sacred place to another effortless and comfortable,” AbdulTawab shared.
