Saudi Authorities Ramp Up Helicopter Surveillance for Hajj Pilgrims

In a bid to ensure the safety and security of pilgrims during Hajj, Saudi authorities have implemented round-the-clock helicopter surveillance flights over Makkah and its surrounding holy sites.

The Security Aviation Command, working in conjunction with the Royal Saudi Air Force under the Hajj Security Forces, has deployed state-of-the-art aircraft to monitor the movements of pilgrims this Hajj season.

Deputy commander of the Hajj Security Forces’ aerial surveillance operations, Col. Shaker bin Sulaiman Al-Tuwaijiri, revealed that the security forces are closely supervising pilgrim movements from the skies day and night.

Utilizing top-tier helicopters, advanced technological tools, and artificial intelligence, the General Security Aviation Command and the Royal Saudi Air Forces are ensuring the safety of pilgrims with their highly experienced staff.

These surveillance patrols play a crucial role in monitoring crowd density, swiftly identifying and addressing potential disruptions and dangers, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency.

The surveillance mission is closely coordinated with the Hajj Command and Control Center, which receives live videos and images for immediate analysis and action on the ground.

This real-time information aids ground personnel in managing the movement of vehicles and pilgrims between different locations.

Equipped with advanced features such as 270-foot rescue winches, thermal cameras, and medical rescue devices, helicopters like the S-92 ensure swift response capabilities for any emergency situations.

With an autopilot system and advanced flight management controls, the S-92 plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of pilgrims during the Hajj pilgrimage.
