French Algerian Singer Lolo Zouai Co-Writes Song for K-Pop Band NewJeans

French Algerian singer Lolo Zouai has teamed up with K-Pop band NewJeans to write a song for the group’s Japanese debut.

Zouai, a 29-year-old hitmaker, took to Instagram to share a snippet of the song and its video, expressing her excitement about being credited as a co-songwriter.

“‘Right Now’ by @newjeans_official out now!! Written by me. I’ve been a fan of NewJeans for a while and I’m honored to be a part of their Japanese debut! Also sang some background vocals on this one. Shoutout the incredible @freerangeneighborkid, we had so much fun writing in Korea last summer. I (love) this song and these girls,” she captioned the post.

NewJeans is a South Korean girl group consisting of five members: Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein. The group is known for their 1990s and 2000s-style pop tracks, with “Right Now” being released on streaming platforms alongside another song called “Supernatural.”

The artist, based in Brooklyn and Los Angeles, shared images and videos from her concert in China with her 298,000 followers on Instagram. Just weeks before, she had hinted at working on a new album, keeping her fans eagerly anticipating the release.

Celebrating Milestones: Lolo Zouai’s Music Career

Zouai, known for her unique blend of R&B, club-pop, and hip-hop, has garnered an international following for her dynamic stage presence and genre-blending music.

Her career highlights include the release of her debut album “High Highs to Low Lows” in 2019 and the follow-up album “PLAYGIRL” in 2022.

To mark the five-year anniversary of her debut album, Zouai reintroduced merchandise from that era to her fans, including signed sweatshirts and T-shirts featuring her name.

Her follow-up album “PLAYGIRL” featured 13 songs and was well-received, leading to Zouai being featured on a billboard in New York’s Times Square.
