Revolutionary Tree Transplant Program in Madinah! 🌳🌟

Preserving Perennial Plants in the Madinah Region: A Vital Step Towards Environmental Sustainability

Perennial plants, with their remarkable ability to endure harsh conditions such as droughts, climatic variations, and human activities, play a crucial role in our ecosystem, providing sustenance for people and animals, and contributing to the overall well-being of the environment.

Relocating and Caring for Perennial Trees

The National Center for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification has initiated a program to relocate and care for perennial trees in the Madinah region. In a four-month operation, some trees were moved to Al-Bayda Al-Bari Park as part of the Kingdom’s efforts towards environmental sustainability and vegetation development.

Preservation and Collaboration

Khalid bin Saadullah Al-Saidi, representative of the general administration of grazing and the general administration of protection, supervision, and inspection of NCVC in the Madinah region, emphasized the importance of preserving vegetation and relocating perennial plants through collaboration and initiatives with environmental advocates across the Kingdom.

Thorough Selection and Modern Methods

Specialists from the center carefully select trees based on type, size, condition, age, and benefits before using modern methods to relocate them, ensuring minimal damage and maximum survival. The criteria for selecting trees depend on their type, whether wild or cultivated, size, condition, age, and benefits.

Smooth Relocation Process

The relocation process involves preparing the new site, digging, manufacturing wooden molds to hold the trees, providing carriers, equipment, and special transport tractors. Acacia ehrenbergiana, Latin thorn tree (Acacia tortilis), and Maerua crassifolia obstructing projects and development lines will also be relocated.

Environmental Benefits of Acacia Trees

Acacia ehrenbergiana trees play a vital role in the Kingdom, providing shade, shelter for birds, and sustenance for livestock. These trees can grow up to nine meters in height, bear yellow flowers, and attract grazing bees that produce “Salim” honey.

Contributing to Biodiversity and Sustainability

The successful relocation of trees in the Madinah region, thanks to expert guidance, cooperation from the Ministry of Transport, and citizen involvement, significantly contributes to conserving and enriching biodiversity. Focusing on indigenous tree species is essential for ensuring sustainability for present and future generations.

Continued Efforts for Environmental Conservation

NCVC remains committed to safeguarding mature and rare trees, promoting environmental sustainability, and enriching biodiversity and eco-tourism efforts. These ongoing activities aim to preserve a wide variety of trees across the Kingdom, fostering environmental conservation and sustainability.
