Riyadh’s Nonprofit Funneling Billions for Longer Lives

Hevolution Foundation: Leading the Charge in Extending Human Lifespan

Hevolution Foundation, a Riyadh-based global nonprofit organization, is on a mission to fund research and early-stage investments that will revolutionize the way we approach aging and healthspan. With a staggering SR1.5 billion ($400 million) in research grants and biotech investments, Hevolution is a powerhouse in the field of geroscience, dedicated to advancing global human healthspan.

Closing the Gap Between Lifespan and Healthspan

Despite the average lifespan in Saudi Arabia being around 74 years, the average healthspan is only 64 years, leaving a significant gap between life expectancy and healthy life expectancy. Hevolution Foundation aims to address the underlying causes of aging to prevent age-related diseases and ensure that individuals can enjoy a longer, healthier life.

Dr. Mehmood Khan, CEO of Hevolution Foundation, emphasized the importance of bridging the gap in funding for geroscience and healthspan science, stating: “Geroscience and healthspan science are critically underfunded, which is why Hevolution is stepping up to bridge this gap.”

Investing in the Future of Healthy Longevity

Hevolution Foundation has allocated funds to top research institutions such as King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre, King Abdullah International Medical Research Center, and King Abdullah University of Science and Technology. Additionally, global institutions like Buck Institute, Northwestern University, and Harvard University have received grants to further research in geroscience.

Dr. Haya bint Khaled, Vice President of Research at Hevolution Foundation, highlighted the importance of Saudi Arabia’s National Biotechnology Strategy and the country’s potential to lead the world in addressing age-related diseases through innovative research and investments in healthy longevity.

Commitment to Advancing Geroscience Research

Hevolution Foundation is committed to increasing the number of geroscience researchers globally, accelerating drug development, and making healthspan therapeutics more accessible. With an annual budget of up to SR4 billion, Hevolution aims to drive progress in the field of aging research and ensure a healthier future for all.

Through grant programs and fellowships, Hevolution is investing in the next generation of scientists and researchers, focusing on areas such as the microbiome, aging biomarkers, and senescence. The organization’s partnerships with prestigious institutions like Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Northwestern University demonstrate its dedication to advancing geroscience research on a global scale.

Building a Brighter Future for Healthy Longevity

Established in 2018 by royal order, Hevolution Foundation is at the forefront of the fight against aging and age-related diseases. With headquarters in Riyadh and a North American hub in Boston, Hevolution is expanding its reach to other global locations, solidifying its commitment to extending human lifespan and improving global healthspan.
