In a display of exceptional talent, five Saudi students hailing from the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba) have made their mark on the international stage by clinching medals at the Junior Balkan Mathematical Olympiad 2024.

Taking place in Turkiye from June 25-30, the competition brought together 130 students from 22 countries, showcasing the prowess of young minds in the field of mathematics.

The accolades were well-deserved, with Abdullah bin Tariq Al-Amer, Mohammed Shaiban, Bilal Al-Hujaili, Fatimah Al-Marhoon, and Arar Al-Ajami standing out with their exceptional performances. Al-Amer secured a silver medal, while the others were awarded bronze medals for their outstanding achievements.

Recognizing the exceptional capabilities of the Saudi students, Al-Hazaa commended their consistent success on the international stage, which plays a crucial role in shaping the future of the country and enriching its human capital.

This year marked the 13th participation of the Saudi team at the Junior Balkan Mathematical Olympiad, where they have accumulated an impressive total of 58 medals over the years, including nine gold, 22 silver, and 27 bronze.

Saudi Arabia’s triumph at the junior olympiad is just one of many achievements in global competitions, showcasing the talent and dedication of students supported by the Ministry of Education and Mawhiba.

Selected through rigorous tests conducted by Mawhiba and undergoing intensive training, the students honed their skills under the guidance of national and international trainers to excel at the competition.

The Junior Balkan Mathematical Olympiad, an annual event organized by Balkan countries and Cyprus, has been a platform for young mathematicians since its inception in 1997. With each country fielding a team of up to six students under the age of 15, the competition is a test of mathematical prowess over a single day of intense challenges.
