Saudi Arabia and Romania ink groundbreaking logistics partnership

Saudi Arabia and Romania Enhance Logistics Collaboration

In a move to boost logistics services between Saudi Arabia and Romania, a memorandum of understanding has been signed by the Kingdom’s Minister of Transport and Logistics Services Saleh Al-Jasser and Romania’s Minister of Transport, Infrastructure, and Communications Sorin Grindeanu. This agreement aims to bring the latest operational methods in the sector to both countries, marking a significant step forward in their collaboration.

Aligning with Vision 2030 and National Industrial Strategy

The signing of this MoU is in line with Saudi Arabia’s recent transformation in the logistics sphere, driven by initiatives like Vision 2030 and the National Industrial Strategy. The Kingdom’s goal to rank among the top 10 countries in logistics services is well-supported by this partnership with Romania.

Facilitating Exchange and Support

According to data from the Observatory of Economic Complexity, in 2022, Saudi Arabia exported $15.1 million worth of goods to Romania, while Romania’s exports to the Kingdom reached $410 million. The newly signed MoU will facilitate the exchange and support of experiences and the latest developments in the logistics sector, as well as the harmonization of policies and regulations between the two countries.

Strengthening Cooperation Through Visits

During his visit to Romania, Al-Jasser toured Bucharest International Airport with the Kingdom’s Ambassador to Romania Mohammed Abdul Ghani Khayat. He explored the airport’s comprehensive services in passenger management, cargo operations, and air carriers, and also met with officials from the Romanian national carrier TAROM to discuss operational capacity and fleet size.

Continued Collaboration in Various Sectors

This collaboration between Saudi Arabia and Romania is not limited to logistics. In June 2022, the two countries signed an agreement for cooperation in the defense sector, covering areas such as training, expertise exchange, technology development, communications systems, and medical services. This ongoing partnership demonstrates a commitment to strengthening ties and advancing mutual interests.
