Masam 7: Saudi Arabia’s Lifeline for Yemen – Find Out How!

Riyadh’s Project Masam Continues to Clear Mines in Yemen

In a press statement, Ousama Al-Gosaibi, the head of Saudi Arabia’s Project Masam, expressed gratitude towards the Saudi leadership for their unwavering support in eliminating the threat of mines and explosives in Yemen.

KSrelief, the Saudi aid agency, has renewed Masam’s contract for landmine clearance in Yemen for the seventh consecutive year. Al-Gosaibi highlighted the project’s success over the past six years, achieving high performance rates in all field operations.

With a total of 450,919 mines, unexploded ordnance, and explosive devices cleared since the project’s inception, Masam has set a significant benchmark according to international standards.

The project’s strategic approach is based on thorough studies of the various mine threats in Yemen, considering the country’s challenging terrain and the widespread planting of explosives by Houthi militias.

As Masam enters its seventh year, the focus will be on localized efforts, including intensified training and logistical support to continue the mission that began in mid-2018.
