Al-Mithnab Municipality Conducts Successful Simulation of Heavy Rainfall and Flash Floods
AL-MITHNAB: In a strategic move to enhance disaster preparedness and emergency response capabilities, the Qassim Municipality’s Al-Mithnab branch recently carried out a comprehensive simulation of heavy rainfall and flash floods.
Testing the Region’s Emergency Preparedness
During the drill, all relevant departments and divisions were involved in the execution of the emergency rainfall plan. A team of 40 field personnel, backed by a fleet of 12 vehicles and machinery, worked in coordination under the Emergency and Disaster Management Plan.
Assessing Critical Infrastructure and Response Time
One of the primary objectives of the simulation was to evaluate the readiness of critical infrastructure in the face of extreme weather events. Teams conducted thorough inspections of rainwater drainage networks, pumps, and generators, while also identifying potential rainwater accumulation sites on the streets of the governorate.
Crucial Exercise for Coordination Efficiency
The simulation served as a vital tool for measuring the response time, coordination efficiency, and overall preparedness of the region in dealing with heavy rainfall and flash floods. It was a crucial step in ensuring that Al-Mithnab is well-equipped to handle such emergencies in the future.
