Facility slapped with hefty fine for tampering with expiration dates!

Saudi Food and Drug Authority Cracks Down on Expired Poultry with Tampered Expiration Dates

In a daring raid, the Saudi Food and Drug Authority swooped in and seized a whopping 4 tonnes of expired poultry with tampered expiration dates. But that’s not all – they also uncovered a stash of poultry and meat from an unknown source in a warehouse in Riyadh, primed to be unleashed into food stores and markets.

During their routine inspection tours on food products and facilities, the authority stumbled upon this disturbing find. Inside the warehouse, they not only discovered the offending food items, but also came across the tools and labels used to deceitfully alter the expiration dates.

Swift action was taken as all the tainted poultry and meat items were confiscated and promptly destroyed. To add insult to injury, the facility responsible was slapped with a hefty fine of SR500,000 ($133,000) for violating Article 16 of the Food Law. This article clearly states that food must not be handled if it is adulterated or involves any deceptive methods that could mislead consumers.

The Saudi authorities are urging vigilant consumers to keep an eye out for any suspicious activities in facilities under their watch. If you spot any violations, don’t hesitate to report them by dialing the unified number (19999) or using the “Tameni” application. It’s time to put a stop to these shady practices and ensure the safety of our food supply!
