Insider Secrets to Thriving in Madinah’s Date Market!

Harvesting Season in Full Swing at Madinah Date Market

The central Madinah Date Market is bustling with activity as Saudi Arabia’s date harvesting season is in full swing.

With the harvesting of date palms kicking off in the first quarter of June across 29,000 farms in the region, the market is abuzz with fresh dates of various types that are renowned in Madinah and its governorates, including Routhana, Rabia, Halia, Suwaidaa, Halwa, Lona Musaid, and more.

The scorching temperatures are speeding up the ripening process in the initial stages of harvesting, which continues until the end of July. As August rolls in, the date harvesting process kicks into high gear, with farmers showcasing their dates in the market. The market boasts a diverse range of date varieties such as Ajwa, Safawi, Amber, Medjool, Barhi, and more.

To ensure compliance with technical and health standards and to maintain the quality of produce, the Saudi Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture is ramping up inspection activities at the central date market. This effort not only supports exports of dates and their products but also underscores the significance of the palm and date sector as a key agricultural production sector in the Kingdom, aligning with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
