“Exclusive: Shawn Levy Brings Deadpool & Wolverine to Marvel Universe!”

Marvel’s First R-Rated Superhero Outing: “Deadpool & Wolverine” Hits Theaters July 25

Canadian filmmaker Shawn Levy is ecstatic to be at the helm of Marvel’s groundbreaking first R-rated superhero film — “Deadpool & Wolverine,” set to premiere on July 25.

“I was thrilled by Marvel’s lack of boundaries,” Levy exclaims to Arab News. “Clearly, they understood the necessity for a creatively daring and audacious approach to a ‘Deadpool’ film. We were given the freedom to push the limits. There was only one requested joke change in the entire movie.”

“Deadpool & Wolverine” brings together Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) and the revived Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) from 21st Century Fox into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which is currently navigating recent disappointments. It stands as the sole MCU release this year.

The storyline picks up six years post “Deadpool 2,” where Wade Wilson, aka Deadpool, has left his mercenary life behind. The Time Variance Authority pulls him into a new mission where he reluctantly teams up with Wolverine to face an existential threat to their universe, promising to alter MCU history.

Having previously collaborated with Jackman and Reynolds, Levy expresses his admiration for the ‘Deadpool’ franchise since its inception in 2016.

“I was amazed by the first ‘Deadpool,’ which redefined the superhero genre with its wit and creativity. I’m a fan of the franchise and saw this opportunity as a chance to honor these characters and explore themes of friendship and brotherhood in a humorous yet touching way.”

Levy reveals his excitement for audiences to experience the film’s evolution in action sequences and its emotional depth, particularly in the latter half, focusing on themes of friendship and redemption.
