Saudi Arabia Shines at International Mathematical Olympiad 2024

In a display of mathematical prowess, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia clinched six medals at the 65th International Mathematical Olympiad 2024 held at the prestigious University of Bath in the UK. The event, which took place from July 15 to 21, saw teams of up to six contestants grappling with three intricate problems in two grueling exams spanning 4.5 hours each over two consecutive days.

Medal Winners and Achievements

Hadi Al-Aithan from the Al-Ahsa education department stood out by claiming a silver medal, while the bronze medals were secured by Youssef Bakheet (Yanbu), Mohammed Rabie (Madinah), Muath Al-Qahtani (Eastern Province), and Ahmed Al-Shehri (Riyadh). Mohammad Al-Ghamdi from the Eastern Province also received a certificate of appreciation for his commendable performance.

Participation and Recognition

The Saudi Arabia team proudly represented the nation under the auspices of the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity, or Mawhiba, along with the Ministry of Education. The country’s participation in the event is part of the Mawhiba International Olympiad program, which offers 20 initiatives annually aimed at enhancing skills through advanced curricula and development programs.

Continued Success

With a total of 77 awards to its name, Saudi Arabia’s achievements at the International Mathematical Olympiad include 12 silver medals, 46 bronze medals, and 19 certificates of appreciation. The nation’s dedication to nurturing mathematical talent and fostering excellence continues to be recognized on the global stage.
