Saudi Arabian Military Industries Becomes Authorized Center for C-130 Hercules Aircraft and Airbus Rotorcraft Platforms
Riyadh – In a major expansion of its capabilities, Saudi Arabian Military Industries (SAMI) has been designated as an authorized center for C-130 Hercules aircraft and Airbus rotorcraft platforms for maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services.
Agreements with Lockheed Martin and Airbus Helicopters
During the Farnborough International Airshow, SAMI signed agreements with Lockheed Martin and Airbus Helicopters, solidifying its position as a key player in the aerospace and defense industry. The company aims to be among the top 25 defense companies globally by 2030, aligning with Saudi Arabia’s goal of localizing 50 percent of its defense spending by the same year.
Commitment to Local Capabilities
CEO Walid Abukhaled emphasized SAMI’s commitment to developing local talent and enhancing the defense industry sector in Saudi Arabia. The partnerships with Lockheed Martin and Airbus Helicopters will further localize MRO capabilities and strengthen the Kingdom’s defense sector.
Growth in the Aviation Sector
With substantial investments in the Vision 2030 plan, Saudi Arabia is experiencing significant growth in the aviation sector. SAMI’s focus on training and developing national talent aligns with the objectives of Vision 2030, aiming to support the localization of government spending in the coming years.

Abdulsalam Al-Ghamdi, SAMI Aerospace Executive Vice President, highlighted the importance of the partnerships in enhancing the company’s capabilities for maintenance, repair, and overhaul services. SAMI Alsalam Aerospace Industries will provide support to operators of C-130 Hercules aircraft regionally and internationally.
